                                                    Dragonfly

                                                    Picture
Dragonfly is the newest addition to our fleet.  She is a Pearson 385 Center Cockpit Sloop.  This is a big, comfortable boat that sails well.  With the cockpit in the center of the boat, rather than the stern, there is room for a large private aft cabin with a double bed, private head with shower.  The boat provides excellent ventilation with five opening ports and a large hatches.  The rest of the cabin is similar to our other boats, with a v-berth double bed, another head with shower, galley with stove and oven, and the main cabin with convertible table/double bed and single bed.  With the addition of the cockpit tent with screens, people can sleep in the open air also. The water tank holds 170 gallons of fresh water so we never run out.  This boat is made for comfort and safety. A big, heavy boat has a slower motion and handles rough water better than a modern, lightweight boat.
Lake Superior reminds us how much we like a big, heavy boat now and then. The dinghy we tow behind on our overnight trips is a 12' and has an 8hp outboard.

                                                    Where do we sleep?

                                                    Picture
The v-berth, in the bow (front) of the boat, sleeps 2 in a separate cabin.

                                                    Picture
The private aft cabin, in the back of the boat, features a double bed and its own bathroom.
                                                    Picture
The main salon has two setees which convert to a double bed & single bed to provide sleeping room for several more.

                                                    Where do we cook?

Dragonfly has a very nice galley with a sink, gas stove & oven & lots of storage space.  All the supplies are already here on the boat; you just bring the food (or you can let us do that, too!).  A gas grill is available for a cockpit cookout you'll never forget!

Where do we, ya know, "go"?

There are two heads (bathrooms) on Dragonfly.  These are always available to use whether we are under sail, anchored or docked.  We often stop at a dock during the day and there are facilities to use ashore the Islands for more privacy.

The head in the aft cabin features a sink, toilet & separate shower.

What about the outside of the boat?

You'll probably want to spend most of your time on the deck of the boat.  Dragonfly has plenty of seating of available in the cockpit and on the deck.  The cockpit is outfitted with a table for whiling away your afternoons and a removable tent so you can even sleep in the fresh air!

Screened hatches open into the cabin for lots of ventilation when anchored or at a dock.
