Sea caves, sea caves, sea caves! While every island has sea caves, we will again be sailing from Cornucopia to be close to one of the largest cave areas: the Mainland Sea Caves. Sail out from Cornucopia Harbor, viewing spectacular sea caves and shoreline, anchor at the nationally renowned Mawikwe Bay/Meyers Beach sea caves of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and explore by zodiac dinghy. The caves glow in the warm evening light. Swimming in the caves is possible when it is calm. The caves are most spectacular here because they are exposed to the open part of Lake Superior. Our day trips from Bayfield are much more protected by the Apostle Islands and we recommend them for our guests who are concerned about sea sickness. These Mainland Sea Caves are the caves that are featured in national magazines and visited by all the kayak outfitters. It is often fairly calm, with just enough wind to sail, but if the waves come up to where it might be uncomfortable, there are several points and bays with caves closer to the harbor that are more protected. There will be days when the chop is too big for the zodiac to go into the caves but the sailboat will be a great way to view the caves up close. We do not expect too many days when we will have to cancel, except in extreme weather. We offer a full refund if we can’t provide a safe and comfortable trip. We are the only company to offer a trip of this kind to the public.
Complimentary beverages are available aboard the boat. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and carry-ons. Exclusive boat trips can be booked in advance for other times per availability.

The Mainland Sea Caves are shown below (in green along shoreline) near Mawikwe Bay. Our regular day trips sail into the Apostle Islands from Bayfield.
